The school is not too bad, you just won't go very far or have much of a high school experience here if you're not part of a certain group. It could be an AP class, sport, club, marching band, JROTC, etc. There are SOME teachers that are difficult to work with/compromise with, but there are a lot that do care and do try. Since it is located in a rather rural area with a large variety of different people, the school is low on the respect scale of society. Just like in every high school there will be the dumb asses, the lazy, the motivated, the smart, etc. it just so happens that there's a lot of dumb asses, but there are also a good amount of good people and hard workers, you just need to find them and be associated with them.
Is my best place to make memories.
Most the teachers at this school are very disrespectful all of them mostly pick out a group of individuals and judge them. But on the other hand there are some nice and trustworthy teachers.
It is not the place I had imagined, but now I know it is the right place for me. I know some of the kids aren't the best, but there are a lot of good kids there as well. The teachers are mostly all very nice. It might not have had a full renovation yet, but I still believe the technology is good and definitely helps when working. It is a great place to be, where somewhat small town kids with big dreams can go and feel like they belong, somewhere they want to go. The chorus and the football team is great.
I am currently a student at zhills.
It's certainly not the best school around, but it's something.
I would give this school no stars if it was possible. As a educator and parent, the rumors I heard about this school before enrolling my daughter, made me hesitate whether or not to enroll her. She was on the college track through the AVID program that was transferred from her experience at Stewart Middle so I had hoped this would help her. Sadly, this school is everything it was rumored to be. During her first 9 weeks of school, my daughter was sexually harassed by an older student and bullied by another. The staff and administration did not show empathy or support my daughter in her experiences. She was labeled a "drama queen" by the band director and his attitude toward her was so bad that she requested to withdraw from band which she very much enjoyed in middle school. Her "college track/honors classes" were delivered by lazy and unmotivated teachers. They were strictly lecture and note-taking, not the hands-on experiences that is supposed to come with college-preparatory classes. No actual labs for the lab-sciences that are supposed to be required for college bound students. The teachers are either rude or passive and they let bullying happen or contribute to it. One teacher actually yelled in my daughter's face in front of the other students and adult tutors. I sent all emails that were exchanged during the sexual harassment and bullying incidences to the Pasco School District deputy superintendents of our area and there was no correspondence from them. This school lacks an environment of teamwork, school pride, positive behavior incentives/encouragement and community. My daughter is in the process of transferring to FLVS full-time to redirect her attitude about school and learning from such a terrible experience.
We have a rather descent football team and marching band. The football team works hard each year to be the best that they can (they could use a lot more discipline, but that's on the coaches to take care of). The band has never gotten anything below an excellent in marching and has gone to states for concert for 8 years straight. The band director is strict and rather tough, but all around a respectable guy. He puts a lot of dedication into his band and goes to great lengths to get done what needs to get done. There are many sports teams and clubs/classes that a student can take part of. Just go on the school website to find them or contact the school.
